See your family tree the way it was meant to be seen.

GenoPlot takes the GEDCOM file you already have and turns it into a detailed, zoomable pedigree chart. Upload your file, and we handle the rest.

Built for people who take genealogy seriously

If you have spent time building your family tree on Ancestry, FamilySearch, or in desktop software like Gramps or RootsMagic, you know the frustration: the tree views in those tools are fine for editing, but they fall short when you want to step back and see the full picture.

GenoPlot reads the standard GEDCOM file that every genealogy tool can export. It maps out every person, every connection, and every generation into a single high-resolution chart that you can pan and zoom through in your browser. No software to install. No subscription required.

What you get

One-step upload

Export a GEDCOM file from your genealogy tool and upload it here. That is genuinely the entire process. No mapping fields, no configuring options.

Interactive visualization

Your tree renders as a detailed SVG that you can zoom into individual names or zoom out to see ten generations at once. Works in any modern browser.

Works with your tools

If your software can export a .ged file, it works here. Tested with Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, Gramps, RootsMagic, Legacy, and Family Tree Maker.

Three steps to your family tree chart

1

Export your GEDCOM

Go to your genealogy tool (Ancestry, FamilySearch, Gramps, or whatever you use) and export your tree as a GEDCOM (.ged) file.

2

Upload to GenoPlot

Create a free account and upload your file. Give your tree a name so you can find it later if you have multiple trees.

3

Explore your tree

Once processing finishes, open your tree in the interactive viewer. Zoom in on branches, pan across generations, and see your entire family laid out.

Common questions

What is a GEDCOM file and where do I get one?

GEDCOM is the universal format for genealogy data. Nearly every family tree program and website supports it. In Ancestry, go to your tree settings and look for "Export Tree." In FamilySearch, you can download GEDCOM files from individual records. Desktop software like Gramps, RootsMagic, and Legacy Family Tree all have an Export option in their File menu. The file you get will end in .ged — that is what you upload to GenoPlot.

How large can my tree be?

We have processed trees with over 10,000 individuals. Larger trees take more time to render, but there is no hard limit on the number of people in your GEDCOM file.

What makes this different from the tree view in Ancestry or FamilySearch?

Most genealogy platforms show you a few generations at a time and require you to click through to see more. GenoPlot renders your entire tree as one continuous chart, so you can see the big picture and zoom into details without losing context. It is designed for visualization, not for editing your data.

Does this cost anything?

GenoPlot is free to use. Create an account, upload your GEDCOM file, and get your visualization at no charge.

Is my data safe?

Your files are stored securely and are only accessible through your account. We do not sell or share your genealogy data.

Ready to see your family tree?

It takes about two minutes to go from GEDCOM file to interactive chart.
